Corporate espionage and eavesdropping are on the rise and executives and security managers need to be prepared to counter these types of activities effectively.
Abstract
Corporations should hire an independent security consultant to carry out periodic inspections of sensitive areas for electronic eavesdropping, information security surveys and policy reviews, employee security awareness development programs, vulnerability testing, and security audits. Sweep inspection and test instrumentation procedures will include a background interview, security measures survey, visual inspection, acoustic ducting evaluation, telephone instruments and wiring inspection, junction blocks inspection, telephone room inspection, electrical measurements of phone lines, time domain reflectometry analysis, nonlinear junction detection, radio frequency spectrum analysis, and ultraviolet light inspection. A final report should highlight all serious problems found and specify immediate remedial steps.
