In 1982, the Essex Police in England continued to emphasize deploying as many officers as possible on uniformed foot patrol and succeeded in revitalizing mounted patrol services. Offenses rose 10.5 percent over 1981, attributed mainly to more burglaries, thefts from vehicles, and criminal damage.
