THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE, SELECTION OF PERSONNEL, DEPLOYMENT AND DUTY ROTATION, AND EQUIPMENT FOR VICE OPERATIONS ARE DISCUSSED IN THIS ARTICLE.
Abstract
IT IS POINTED OUT THAT THE DIRECT CONTROL AND SUPERVISION OF THE VICE UNIT SHOULD NEVER BE FAR REMOVED FROM THE CHIEF POLICE ADMINISTRATOR, THUS REDUCING THE POSSIBILITY OF CORRUPTION. INTELLIGENT AND FLEXIBLE PERSONS WITH INTEGRITY ARE NOTED AS PRIME CANDIDATES FOR VICE WORK, TO BE SELECTED THROUGH THE SUBMISSION OF RESUMES AND SUBSEQUENT PERSONAL INTERVIEWS. SIMULATED FIELD EXERCISES ARE ALSO CONSIDERED VALUABLE IN ASSESSING A CANDIDATE'S APTITUDE FOR VICE WORK. THE EMPLOYMENT OF INFORMERS IS DISCUSSED, AND THE SPECIAL EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR VICE WORK IS CONSIDERED.
