Abstract
FRANCE'S NATIONAL POLICE FORCE IS EXAMINED IN AN INTERVIEW WITH THE FORMER DEPUTY DIRECTORY OF THE FRENCH NATIONAL POLICE COLLEGE, WHO COMMANDED THE DETECTIVE FORCE OF LYONS DURING THE 1960'S. IN ADDITION TO OUTLINING THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF THE FORCE, HE PROVIDES AN OVERVIEW OF POLICE TRAINING. THE DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH AND TRAINING OF GERMANY'S FEDERAL OFFICE OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DISCUSSES TOPICS RELATING TO VARIOUS ASPECTS OF WEST GERMAN POLICE SYSTEMS. THE POLICE CHIEF OF GENOA, ITALY DESCRIBES THE WORKING CONDITIONS ENCOUNTERED BY THE ITALIAN PATROL OFFICER AND COMMENTS ON THE TRADITION OF VIOLENCE IN HIS COUNTRY'S POLITICAL LIFE. THE FUNCTION OF THE PATROL OFFICER IS ALSO THE FOCUS OF AN INTERVIEW WITH THE ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF DENMARK'S NATIONAL POLICE FORCE, WHO STRESSES HOW PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAINING IS COMBINED WITH TECHNICAL SUBJECTS TO PROVIDE HIS COUNTRY'S PATROL OFFICERS WITH A BALANCED OUTLOOK ON CRIME AND POLICING. THE DEPUTY ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER IN CHARGE OF INSPECTING AND PLANNING FOR LONDON'S METROPOLITAN POLICE, DISCUSSES HIS AGENCY'S STRUCTURE, COMMENTING ON HOW POLICE CORRUPTION IS HANDLED WITHIN THE ORGANIZATIONAL FRAMEWORK.
