PRESENTS THE RESULTS OF AN EVALUATION OF FIVE GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY/MASS SPECTROMETRY INSTRUMENTS FOR USE IN IDENTIFYING 'STREET' SAMPLES OF DANGEROUS DRUGS.
Abstract
A TWO-MONTH EVALUATION OF EACH INSTRUMENT TESTED IT FOR EASE OF OPERATION, COMPUTER-CONTROL CAPABILITIES, AND ACCURACY. THE INSTRUMENT MANUFACTURED BY THE HEWLETT-PACKARD COMPANY WAS SELECTED. THE AUTHORS RECOMMEND THE PURCHASE OF ONE DUPONT INSTRUMENT TO SUPPLEMENT THE CONTEMPLATED PURCHASE OF TWELVE OF THE HEWLETT-PACKARD MACHINES BECAUSE OF ITS HIGHER SENSITIVITY AND DESPITE ITS MORE INVOLVED OPERATING PROCEDURES.
