FINDINGS REGARDING THE PROJECT'S EFFECTIVENESS IN ASSISTING THE PRESENT POLICE-SCHOOL LIAISON PROGRAM, MAXIMIZING CADET CONTACTS WITH JUVENILES, AND INCREASING MINORITY RECRUITMENT.
Abstract
OPINIONS REGARDING CADET EFFECTIVENESS WERE OBTAINED FROM FORTY STUDENTS, FOURTEEN TEACHERS, TWENTY ADMINISTRATORS, SIX POLICE-SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICERS, FOUR CADETS, AND THE CADET SUPERVISOR. DATA REGARDING SERVICES PERFORMED BY CADETS WERE OBTAINED THROUGH THE USE OF DAILY REPORT FORMS AND INTERVIEWS WITH CADETS AND POLICE-SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICERS. ATTITUDINAL CHANGES OCCURRING IN BLACK STUDENTS ENROLLED IN A JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVING CADET SERVICES WERE COMPARED WITH CHANGES OCCURRING BLACK STUDENTS ENROLLED IN A JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL NOT RECEIVING CADET SERVICES. AS A RESULT OF THE PROJECT FINDING, EIGHT ADDITIONAL CADETS WERE HIRED TO COMPLEMENT THE EXISTING STAFF OF TEN CADETS. FOR THE OTHER REPORT IN THIS SERIES, SEE NCJ-34911.
