EVALUATION PROJECT HAD NO IMPACT ON REDUCING INCIDENCE OF TARGETED CRIMES OF BURGLARY, LARCENY, AND AUTO THEFT AMONG YOUTH.
Abstract
THE OHIO PROJECT FAILED BECAUSE THE LEAA TIME AND PHILOSOPHICAL GOALS WERE UNREALISTIC. THE PROJECT HOPED TO ACHIEVE TOO MUCH TOO SOON IN THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN AUTOMATED BEHAVIORALLY-ORIENTED MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM. DESPITE THIS, THE REPORT BELIEVES THAT FOR THE NATURE AND COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM THE RESULTS ACHIEVED WERE ADMIRABLE. WITH THE 24-MONTH LEAA GRANT IT WAS HOPED TO INCREASE THE JUVENILE COURT'S ABILITY TO MAKE EFFECTIVE DIAGNOSIS AND REFERRAL, IDENTIFY NEW FORMS OF TREATMENT TO REDUCE DELINQUENCY, AND DETERMINE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF VARIOUS DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUES....BS
