This report evaluates the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign for April 2001. This information is based on a survey of parents and youth.
Abstract
This report is divided into eleven chapters. These chapters are then further divided into subsections. Chapter One Provides a general overview of the media campaign, its paid advertising, and the administrative structure of the evaluation. Chapter Two is the summary of the evaluation plan including section 2.2 the actual design and data collection methods used in this study. Section 2.3 discusses the sample itself. Section 2.4 centers on the different types of measure used. Chapter Four addresses exposure to other drug information and drug education for youth. Chapter Five explores issues dealing with parent’s exposure to non-campaign anti-drug messages. Chapter Six talks about marijuana use among children and adolescents. Chapter Seven analyzes drug beliefs, attitudes, and intentions of young people. Chapter Eight examines how families deal with the issue of drugs with their children. Chapter Nine discusses the various attitudes of parental monitoring, and children’s drug use. Chapter Ten talks about preliminary evidence on media effects on youth. Chapter Eleven presents evidence on parental behavior and thoughts. Tables, charts, graphs, and appendices
