This report is intended to be a reference source for both the evaluation and research literature produced as a result of funding grants administered by the U.S. Justice Department's Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), whose mission is to provide leadership in services and grant administration as well as criminal justice policy development in support for local, State, and Tribal justice strategies.
Abstract
The literature on BJA research and evaluations is categorized under 31 topics. The programs covered under each topic are rated based on evaluation findings. The ratings are "effective," "promising," or "no effects." When a program has not provided sufficient data for a proper evaluation, it is labeled as having "insufficient evidence." "Highlighted reports" label the literature that is an evaluation of BJA's national initiative and/or the study is nationwide in scope. Also, for each program, the total number of NIJ-sponsored evaluations it has received are noted. Other Office of Justice Programs' (OJP's) are also noted, along with the total number of evaluations the program has received. In addition, program-related literature that has been peer-reviewed or noted. A summary table highlights the number of evaluations, crime solutions.gov ratings of programs and practices, and other related research.
