APPRAISAL OF THE COUNTY LINE CENTER, THE PRIMARY OUTPATIENT FACILITY IN A COUNTY-WIDE SYSTEM OF DRUG PROGRAMS.
Abstract
THE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR DRUG ABUSERS INCLUDES INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSELING, VARIOUS FAMILY-RELATED GROUPS AND SERVICES, VOLUNTEER COORDINATION, SOCIAL ACTIVITIES, PUBLIC RELATIONS, AND PRIMARY PREVENTION PROGRAMS IN THE SCHOOLS. EVALUATORS MADE EIGHT ON-SITE VISITS TO THE OUTPATIENT CENTER, MEETING WITH THE BOARD, ADMINISTRATIVE AND LINE STAFF, AND 40 PROGRAM CLIENTS. THEY ALSO ASSISTED IN DEVELOPING DATA COLLECTION INSTRUMENTS. PROGRAM IMPACT WAS MEASURED IN THE AREAS OF REDUCED DRUG USE OF OUTPATIENT CLIENTS, DECREASED ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION BY ALCOHOLIC CLIENTS, AND PROGRAM RETENTION RATES FOR OUTPATIENT DRUG CLIENTS. PROGRAM FINDINGS INDICATED THE NEED FOR A MORE SYSTEMATIC METHOD OF COLLECTING INFORMATION, THE NEED FOR WOMEN STAFF MEMBERS, AND THE NEED FOR OUTPATIENT SERVICES TO BE EXTENDED TO THE BLACK POPULATION IN THE LOWER PART OF THE COUNTY.
