This paper presents an overview of the polygraph's evolution in the People's Republic of China (PRC).
Abstract
The adoption of the polygraph instrument and its related methods and procedures were not introduced to the PRC until late in the 20th century. Although the use of these methods was slow to begin, the use of the polygraph and its application in the day-to-day activities of many investigators at the different levels of government has grown quickly in the last decade. This paper presents an overview of the polygraph's evolution in the People's Republic of China (PRC); it introduces some of the people involved in that evolution and describes, in part, the environment in which the polygraph is used. The paper concludes with a question regarding the future of the polygraph, not only within the PRC, but possibly for polygraph use in general. (Published Abstract)
