A DUAL-CHANNEL DETECTOR AND A PORTABLE SINGLE-CHANNEL DETECTOR DESIGNED FOR THE NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT (NYPD) WERE TESTED AND COMPARED ON THEIR ABILITY TO DETECT HEROIN AS WELL AS HEROIN-CUTTING CHEMICALS.
Abstract
IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE NYPD DETECTOR WOULD GIVE AN IDENTICAL RESPONSE TO A HEROIN CUTTING OPERATION AS TO A POLITICAL CAUCUS FROM BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. IN OTHER WORDS, THE RESULTS WERE COMPLETELY NEGATIVE WITH RESPECT TO THE USEFULNESS OF THE NYPD DETECTOR. SEE ALSO NCJ-32150.
