EXAMINATION OF CHANGES IN SOCIAL STIGMA, FINANCIAL CONDITION, AND EMOTIONAL AND SEXUAL FRUSTRATION.
Abstract
THE FINDINGS SUGGESTED THAT ONLY THE AREA OF EMOTIONAL AND SEXUAL FRUSTRATION CAUSED SIGNIFICANT OVERALL CHANGES FOR THE WORSE IN THE FAMILIES STUDIED. BECAUSE THE FAMILIES ARE INNOCENT, THE AUTHOR SUGGESTS MEANS FOR MAKING PUNISHMENT MORE SPECIFIC, I.E., CONFINED TO THE CONVICTED PARTY. AMONG HIS RECOMMENDATIONS ARE - THE INCREASED USE OF FAMILY COUNSELING AT THE PRISON, INCREASED VISITING PRIVILEGES, AND THE INTRODUCTION OF CONJUGAL VISITS AND HOME FURLOUGHS FOR MARRIED INMATES. APPENDICES CONTAIN QUESTIONNAIRES USED IN THIS STUDY. BIBLIOGRAPHY.
