Abstract
The Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court is responsible for adjudicating juvenile matters, offenses committed by adults against juveniles, and family matters except divorce. The court provides comprehensive services for delinquent and status offenders under the legal age of 18 who live within the court's jurisdiction. In addition, the court provides services to adults who are experiencing domestic and/or familial difficulties that are amenable to unofficial arbitration, counseling, or legal intervention. The court also provides services required in adult criminal complaints for offenses committed against juveniles unrelated to them. Following a statement of agency mission, information and data on juvenile case processing is provided. This encompasses intake, the informal hearing officer, residential predispositional placements, detention, adjudication, supervision, juvenile probation risk of reoffending, specialized programs, education programs, and residential services. Data and information on adult case processing addresses domestic relations cases; adult criminal cases; family abuse; and support, custody, and visitation complaint case processing. The section on research and development provides information on juvenile court grants, findings from research studies and reports, strategic planning, and training. 40 figures
