CITY ORDINANCES AND POLICE DEPARTMENTAL POLICIES ARE CONSIDERED AS POSSIBLE REMEDIES TO THE PROBLEM OF PERSISTENT FALSE ALARMS FROM PRIVATE SECURITY SYSTEMS.
Abstract
FALSE ALARMS FROM POORLY DESIGNED, MAINTAINED, OR INSTALLED EQUIPMENT WASTE VALUABLE POLICE PATROL TIME. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT FINES BE LEVIED AGAINST ALARM SERVICES OR CUSTOMERS WHO ARE GUILTY OF REPEATED CARELESSNESS OR INDIFFERENCE. DEPARTMENTAL POLICIES WHICH CLARIFY THE EXPECTED POLICE RESPONSE TO BURGLAR ALARMS WOULD AID IN THE REDUCTION OF FALSE ALARMS.
