AN EVALUATION OF A BROOKLYN (NY) JUVENILE COURT DIVERSION PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES CRISIS-ORIENTED COUNSELING AND TREATMENT, REFERRALS, EMERGENCY CARE, AND TEMPORARY FOSTER CARE.
Abstract
THIS REPORT PROVIDES INFORMATION ON THE BACKGROUND AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROGRAM, THE CHILDREN SERVED BY THE PROGRAM, THE SERVICE MODALITIES AND THEIR EFFECTS, RESULTS OF THE SURVEY OF COMMUNITY AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS, AND RESULTS OF THE STAFF SURVEY. EVALUATION RESULTS INDICATE THAT THE PROGRAM WAS, IN FACT, FEASIBLE SINCE MOST OF THE PLANNED PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED. ALTHOUGH THIS EVALUATION OF SIX MONTH'S DURATION WAS TOO SHORT TO DETERMINE PROGRAM EFFECTIVENESS, THE PRELIMARY FINDINGS SEEM TO BE POSITIVE.
