SUMMARY OF THE PROPOSED FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE FEDERAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON FALSE IDENTIFICATION (FACFI).
Abstract
FACFI WAS ESTABLISHED BY THE ATTORNEY GENERAL UNDER THE FEDERAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE ACT IN NOVEMBER 1974 TO STUDY THE NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE CRIMINAL USE OF FALSE IDENTIFICATION AND TO RECOMMEND MEASURES CONSISTENT WITH PERSONAL PRIVACY TO COMBAT SUCH USE AT FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LEVELS AND IN THE COMMERCIAL AND PRIVATE SECTORS. FALSE IDENTIFICATION IS DEFINED AND METHODS FOR OBTAINING IT DESCRIBED. THE SCOPE OF THE FALSE ID PROBLEM IS DELINEATED AND THE COMMITTEE'S SURVEYS OF RESPONSES TO THE PROBLEM ARE REVIEWED. PROPOSED FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS INCLUDE SUGGESTIONS FOR NATIONAL AND STATE IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS.
