THE GENERAL ACCOUNTING OFFICE FOUND THAT THE FEDERAL CRIME INSURANCE PROGRAM WAS GENERALLY NOT BEING PROMOTED ADEQUATELY, THERE WERE FEW INCENTIVES FOR PRIVATE BROKERS TO SELL THE INSURANCE, AND THAT IT SHOULD BE CONTINUED.
Abstract
HIGH CRIME AREAS WERE FOUND TO HAVE THE MOST NEED FOR THE INSURANCE BUT THE MARKETS WERE NOT BEING EXPLOITED. IN COMPARISON WITH PRIVATE INSURANCE POLICIES, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FEDERAL INSURANCE HAD MORE AVAILABLE COVERAGE, FEWER DEDUCTIBLES, AND LOWER BROKER'S COMMISSIONS. HIGHER COMMISSIONS FOR AGENTS WERE RECOMMENDED.
