This three-volume set provides legally correct, plain-English instructions for lay juries in Federal criminal trials.
Abstract
Volume 1 covers general, midtrial, and opening instructions dealing with the jury's role, trial procedures, permitted and prohibited juror behaviors, evidentiary matters, and the elements of substantive offenses. Instructions for aiding and abetting and conspiracy cases also are provided for disputed and undisputed crimes and those involving individual and entity (e.g., corporations, associations) defendants. Volume 2 provides instructions for specific classes of crime, including those related to business and fraud, crimes against persons and property, sale or possession of regulated items, racketeering, and those against the administration of justice. Volume 3 presents the general pattern of jury instructions followed by instructions for the Federal Judicial Center and the Fifth and Seventh Circuit Courts. Notes on the use of the instructions and additional commentaries also are provided. Index.
