Abstract
Digital technology has revolutionized photography. A comprehensive digital imaging system is invaluable to law enforcement when storing, managing, and retrieving digital images. However, the transition to digital is not without its challenges. The successful switch to digital photography requires the proper preparation, planning, organization, and coordination with many components. This article presents an overview of the research, planning, justification, policy and procedure development, training, and installation process in the film to digital conversion for law enforcement. Digital is the future; it is clean, efficient, easy, and cost effective. The key is controlling the extent of digital immersion and following a comprehensive plan. 1 reference
