OUTLINE OF THE TECHNIQUE UTILIZED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL POLICE ORGANIZATION (INTERPOL) TO REPRODUCE FINGERPRINT CARDS, THUS ENABLING THEM TO DISSEMINATE SUCH INFORMATION IN A HIGHLY ACCURATE AND USEABLE FORM.
Abstract
FIRST THE FINGERPRINT CARD TO BE REPRODUCED IS PHOTOGRAPHED. ONCE THE NEGATIVE HAS BEEN DRIED, A CONTACT POSITIVE TRANSPARENCY IS MADE ON THE SAME TYPE OF FILM. THE THIRD OPERATION IS TO APPLY THE MASK OBTAINED TO THE BACK OF THE NEGATIVE, EMULSION SIDE OUT TO ALLOW FOR CONTACT PRINTING AT A LATER STAGE. ONCE THE NEGATIVE-POSITIVE PAIR HAVE BEEN OBTAINED THE FINGERPRINTS ARE REPRODUCED IN WHOLE OR IN PART ON KODALITH OR GEVALITH FILM. A POSITIVE CONTACT PRINT IS THEN MADE ON DUPLICATING FILM TO PROVIDE THE OFFSET TRANSPARENCY REQUIRED FOR ENGRAVING THE PLATE. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
