REPORT ON THE RESULTS OF A STUDY OF THE NECESSITY OF A REFORM OF THE LAW DEALING WITH ASSAULT IN FINLAND, WHICH RECLASSIFIED SOME INSTANCES OF PETTY ASSAULT TO ORDINARY ASSAULT.
Abstract
ORDINARY ASSAULT CARRIES A HARSHER PENALTY THAN DOES PETTY ASSAULT. DATA FROM THE RECORDS OF TWO COURTS OF ORIGINAL JURISDICTION WERE EXAMINED FOR THE YEAR 1973 TO DETERMINE THE DEGREE TO WHICH THERE WERE ASSAULTS MEETING THE DEFINITION IN THE NEW STATUTE, BUT IN WHICH NO ACTUAL INJURY OCCURRED. THE RESULTS INDICATED THAT SUCH ASSAULTS WERE UNCOMMON. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE NEW STATUTE WOULD NOT BE WIDELY USED. --IN FINNISH.SUMMARY IN ENGLISH...EB
