Abstract
It focuses on the varied aspects of the prevention of fires and explosions; the study of fire causes; the effects of fires; the investigation of fires, arson, and explosions; the law of arson; the collecting, preserving, and presenting of evidence; interviewing witnesses; and courtroom testimony. The material is presented in laymen's language, and photos, diagrams, and tables support the text. It also covers court decisions in cases involving fire, arson, and explosions. Special attention is given to circumstantial evidence; the use of photographs and diagrams in the courtroom; the testimony of lay witnessess as opposed to that of expert witnesses; motives; statements; confessions; the impeachment of witnesses; the admissibility of various kinds of evidence; and arrest, search, and seizure laws.
