Abstract
THE SECOND VOLUME OF FIREARMS IDENTIFICATION CONTAINS NEARLY 3000 PHOTOGRAPHS OF AUTOMATIC PISTOLS, REVOLVERS, AND NONAUTOMATIC PISTOLS REPRESENTING ARMS MADE IN 23 COUNTIES. THIS COLLECTION IS DESIGNED TO AID CRIMINAL INVESTIGATORS IN THE LABORATORY IDENTIFICATION OF WEAPONS. THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF HANDGUNS ARE DIVIDED INTO TWO SECTIONS - THOSE PHOTOGRAPHS WHICH WERE TAKEN BY THE AUTHOR AND THOSE WHICH WERE OBTAINED FROM OTHER SOURCES. THE AUTHOR'S PHOTOGRAPHS ARE ARRANGED BY CALIBER AND ALPHABETIZED ACCORDING TO THE NAME AND MODEL OF THE ARM. THE NAME AND LOCATION OF THE MANUFACTURER (OR SOURCE) ARE ALSO GIVEN WHEN KNOWN. SERIAL NUMBERS ARE GIVEN BECAUSE THEY HELP TO DATE AN ARM OR MODEL. BOTH SIDES OF EACH WEAPON ARE SHOWN, TOGETHER WITH A SCALE. THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE HANDGUNS WHICH WERE UNAVAILABLE TO THE AUTHOR ARE ARRANGED ALPHABETICALLY BY THE NAME OF THE WEAPON. PHOTOGRAPHS OF RARE MANUFACTURER TRADEMARKS AND OTHER IDENTIFICATION MARKS ARE ALSO INCLUDED IN THE TEXT. VOLUME I OF THIS WORK (NCJ 010416) COVERS THE LABORATORY EXAMINATION OF SMALL ARMS AND PROVIDES DATA ON RIFLING CHARACTERISTICS OF HANDGUNS. VOLUME III, (NCJ 010862), EXPANDS THE PHOTOGRAPHIC COVERAGE OF THE WORK AS WELL AS THE DATA ON RIFLING CHARACTERISTICS. THIS IS A 1973 PRINTING OF THE FIRST EDITION. (SNI ABSTRACT)
