Abstract
Meeting quarterly fiscal and progress report deadlines is important for project refunding. Any budgeting changes above 5 percent of the total grant award must be approved by LEAA; documentation should be kept even on minor departures from the arrangements specified in the original proposal. Major personnel changes must also be reported to the national office, and documentation on hiring procedures and selection criteria must be readily available. The detailed recordkeeping is essential for responding to audits, which may occur at any time and come from the LEAA Office of Investigation, the General Accounting Office, or the Department of Justice. Projects should maintain records on personnel bonding, program insurance, worker's compensation, and client transportation. Participants also discuss their responsibility for ensuring clients' attendance at work of school.
