Three Project New Pride representatives outline juvenile justice issues that should be addressed by a national conference. These cover employment/economic development; diagnostic services; and alternative education, placement, supervision, and counseling issues.
Abstract
The committee on employment/economic development will look at resource issues, apprenticeship programs, effects of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act on clients, and other issues. The diagnostic services committee will examine the effects of culture on test results, special testing measures for teenagers, geographic issues, and long-term assessment of the diagnostic process. The committee addressing alternative education, placement, supervision, and counseling will encourage the establishment of summer programs for youths, the formation of a data bank, and additional funds for alternative education programs. Other speakers discuss budget modifications affecting Project New Pride and the importance of the Federal Interagency Coordinating Council to New Pride.
