This report provides local level information on the number and rate of first-time entrants (offender), aged 10-17, to the criminal justice system in England for 2000-2001 to 2007-2008.
Abstract
Highlights of the report include: (1) the number of first-time offenders peaked in 2006-2007 at approximately 100,000 and decreased slightly during 2007-2008; (2) the number of first-time offenders at its lowest point was between 2002-2003 with just below 80,000, and (3) the rate of first-time offenders to the criminal justice system per 100,000 was at its highest in 2006-2007 and its lowest in 2002-2003. This report provides statistics released to inform local areas in England of the number and rate of first-time offenders aged 10-17 to the criminal justice system between 2000-2001 and 2007-2008. The report is based on data recorded on the Police National Computer (PNC). Charts and tables
