Police officers, along with every other group in America, need to watch their intake of fat in order to remain physically fit.
Abstract
Most nutritionists agree that one's diet should not be comprised of more than 25 percent total calories derived from fat; however, most Americans get almost 40 percent of their calories from fat. Some strategies for reducing fat intake include limiting consumption of beef and pork, eating more fish and nonmeat protein, selecting low-fat dairy products, avoiding whole eggs, avoiding fried foods, draining or skimming fat from cooked foods, avoiding processed foods, and reducing topping and fatty condiments. These tips can be applied to restaurant and fast-food dining; meals can be ordered according to certain cooking specifications and many establishments offer low-fat menu choices. One successful way to control weight is to avoid getting hungry by snacking on healthy, low-fat foods including crackers, fruit, unbuttered popcorn, and vegetables.
