This County Detention Facilities Summary provides a monthly profile of Florida's detention facility inmate populations for June 1995; monthly average daily population (ADP) figures include male, female, adult, and juvenile inmates.
Abstract
ADP figures are arranged into felony, misdemeanor, and other subcategories. The "other" subcategory includes parole violators, State inmates, undocumented aliens, holdings for other jurisdictions, and individuals detained under the Baker and Myers Acts. Within both felony and misdemeanor subcategories, data on inmates sentenced, held for trial or sentencing, and detained or sentenced for probation violations are tabulated. These data show that, on average, 41,130 inmates were housed in Florida's county detention facilities during June 1995, a 1 percent increase in the inmate population from that reported in May 1995. Statewide ADP totals for June 1995 included 35,318 adult males (85.8 percent), 4,670 adult females (11.4 percent), 1,095 juvenile males (2.7 percent), and 47 juvenile females (0.1 percent). About 73 percent of the total inmate population were incarcerated for felonies, while 20 percent were detained for misdemeanors. Offenders held for trial represented 56.3 percent of the inmate population. The statewide county detention rate was 3 per 1,000 residents. Of 104 facilities reporting, 14 had ADP's exceeding their rated capacity. 5 tables
