Abstract
THE FLORIDA CRIME INFORMATION CENTER (FCIC) IS DESIGNED AS A STATEWIDE, LOCAL LEVEL INFORMATION SYSTEM, TIED DIRECTLY TO THE FBI'S NATIONAL CRIME INFORMATION CENTER (NCIC) IN WASHINGTON D.C. THE NCIC ALSO HAS COMPUTER LINKS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES, AND THE DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY COMPUTERS. THIS ARTICLE DISCUSSES THE GENERAL SYSTEM DESIGN CONCEPT AND THE VARIOUS SUBSYSTEMS, INCLUDING AN INTELLIGENCE FILE. THE REPORT ALSO CONTAINS A COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS.
