Abstract
THE STUDY, DATED MARCH 12, 1976, WAS UNDERTAKEN FOR THE CRIME LABORATORY BUREAU OF THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL LAW ENFORCEMENT IN TALLAHASSEE. THE STUDY FOUND THAT A TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY ASSESSMENT PROGRAM IS FEASIBLE AND DESIRABLE. TECHNIQUES FOR ASSESSMENTS SHOULD INCLUDE WRITTEN EXAMS, BENCH TESTING, AND ORAL EXAMS BY A PANEL OF PEERS. OTHER SUGGESTIONS ARE MADE FOR TRAINING AND TESTING CRIME LAB PERSONNEL.
