SURVEY FINDINGS AND PROGRAM RECOMMENDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF POLICE TRAINING AND EDUCATION IN FLORIDA.
Abstract
PERSONAL CONSULTATION AND VISITS WITH JUNIOR COLLEGES, LAW ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATORS AND STAFF WERE HELD TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF UTILIZING JUNIOR COLLEGES FOR ADVANCED TRAINING, THE PRACTICALITY OF FITTING LAW ENFORCEMENT COURSES INTO EXISTING JUNIOR COLLEGE ACADEMIC SCHEDULES, AND TO DETERMINE OFFICIALS DESIRE FOR SUCH TRAINING. IN ADDITION, REGIONAL AND STATE WORKSHOP CONFERENCES WERE CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS, DEPTH, AND SCOPE OF PROGRAMS. RESULTS INDICATE THE NEED, AND PROVIDE SEVERAL GUIDELINES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INSERVICE AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA.
