These appendixes provide supplementation documentation of the results presented in the report, 'Forensic Evidence and the Police: The Effects of Scientific Evidence on Criminal Investigation.'

Abstract

Appendix A includes background information on each of the police departments and crime laboratories, contains the two primary data collection instruments, and describes the data collection approach. Appendix B discusses the investigative practices employed by the police in the study sites which led to followup arrests. Appendix C presents the chi square values and significance levels for the tables in Chapter IV of the report, and Appendix D treats the log-linear analyses discussed in Chapter VII of the report. Thirty-nine tables and two figures are included.
