Abstract
The author details the issues and controversies surrrounding the use of hypnotic strategies in the courtroom and examines hypnosis as an investigative tool. The role of hypnosis in the defense of the mentally ill, its use in the retrieval of impaired memories, hypnotic amnesia in clinical practice, and considerations in the use of expert witnesses are also discussed.
