The Forensic Laboratory Services Directorate of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), with a staff of about 300 forensic scientists, technicians, and administrative personnel working in five regional laboratories and the Central Forensic Laboratory, provides specialized scientific and technical assistance to all accredited Canadian law enforcement agencies, various governmental departments, and the courts.
Abstract
The laboratory staff are tasked with duties including research and development, training, quality assurance, on-site monitoring, and accreditation of procedures, in addition to various aspects of qualifications and certification. This annual report, highlighting activities from 1993-1994, covers services provided, laboratory statistics, initiatives taken during the reporting period, case reports, training, activities in professional organizations, conference attendance and presentations, publications, and general employment conditions.
