Abstract
THE STATE-OF-THE-ART OF FORENSIC SCIENCE IS REVIEWED BRIEFLY FOLLOWED BY A DISCUSSION OF THE POTENTIAL CONTRIBUTIONS OF MICROBIOLOGY TO CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS. DIFFERENT TYPES OF BACTERIA AND BACTERIOPHAGES HAVE BEEN FOUND TO REQUIRE SPECIALIZED ENVIRONMENTS INTERNALLY, EXTERNALLY, AND ON DIFFERENT PEOPLE. A BIBLIOGRAPHY IS INCLUDED.
