This paper presents an overview of the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC) accreditation standards: general standards, undergraduate program standards, and graduate program standards.
Abstract
Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC) Accreditation Standards guide and inform all aspects of the FEPAC accreditation program. The FEPAC Accreditation Standards presented are divided into three parts: general standards, undergraduate program standards, and graduate program standards. General standards are standards that all programs must meet. An undergraduate forensic science program must provide a basic foundation in the scientific and laboratory problem-solving skills necessary for success in a modern forensic laboratory. It must combine rigorous scientific and laboratory training with exposure to the breadth of forensic science disciplines. A graduate forensic science program must provide all of the above with an advanced education in the scientific and laboratory problem-solving skills necessary for success in a modern forensic laboratory. An outline and summary of the Accreditation Standards for each of the three parts are presented.
