Abstract
Two-hundred-seventy delegates from 23 countries attended the Fourth World Conference of the Asia Crime Prevention Foundation, November 15-17, 1995. They discussed: (1) problems concerning the extradition of criminals and other forms of mutual assistance in criminal matters and possible solutions; (2) strategies for enhancing the trust and cooperation of the general public with criminal justice agencies and for preventing corruption; and (3) the role of criminal justice in environmental protection in the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) region, urbanization, and economic development. This document contains extracts from one paper from each country. After the presentation of papers, the delegates considered a special code of conduct to check abuse of power by government officials; understanding sociopolitical, economic and traditional culture and values of other countries to aid in combating transnational crimes, and strengthening family ties and traditional values in young people.
