Abstract
INDIGENTS MUST BE PROVIDED WITH COUNSEL TO APPEAL A FELONY CONVICTION. MANY OF THESE APPEALS-SINCE THEY COST DEFENDANTS NOTHING-TEND TO BE WITHOUT LEGAL MERIT. THIS ARTICLE DISCUSSES THE PRACTICAL AND CONSTITUTIONAL RAMIFICATIONS OF FRIVOLOUS APPEAL AND CONCLUDES WITH AN ANALYSIS OF PROPOSED SOLUTIONS. AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED
