THIS ARTICLE IDENTIFIES NEW PROGRAMS, DIRECTIONS, AND PHILOSOPHIES WHICH WILL HAVE TO BE THOUGHT THROUGH AND ACCEPTED IN INSTITUTIONAL PROGRAMS IN THE YEARS TO COME.
Abstract
THEY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: MODIFICATION OF TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY WITHIN JUVENILE INSTITUTIONS; MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PROFESSIONAL STAFF; UTILIZATION OF NONINSTITUTIONAL PROGRAMS; AND USE OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES BY INSTITUTIONS AND AGENCIES NOT ONLY DURING AFTERCARE BUT WITHIN THE INSTITUTIONAL PROGRAM AS WELL. ADDITIONAL TRENDS FOR THE FUTURE INVOLVE MORE CONCERN WITH THE ROLE OF PREVENTION BY JUVENILE INSTITUTIONS AND THE AGENCIES THAT ADMINISTER THEM; A GROWING CONCERN FOR THE LEGAL RIGHTS AND PROTECTION OF JUVENILES; USE OF SEPARATE FACILITIES FOR DELINQUENTS; AND EVALUATION OF ONGOING PROGRAMS....ELW
