EXAMINATION OF THREE ISSUES FACING THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM WHICH THE AUTHOR FEELS WILL DETERMINE THE FUTURE OF IMPRISONMENT IN THE UNITED STATES.
Abstract
THE FIRST OF THESE ISSUES IS THE CURRENT DEBATE OVER THE OBJECTIVES AND EFFECTIVENESS OF PRISONS. THE SECOND IS THE GROWING NUMBER OF INMATES CONFINED IN CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES, AND FINALLY THE IMPACT OF RECENT COURT DECISIONS ON CORRECTIONAL ADMINISTRATION.
