This publication of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is a solicitation overview of the FY 2024 Tribal Civil and Criminal Legal Assistance Training and Technical Assistance Program.

Abstract

This solicitation overview issued by the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) invites applications for the Tribal Civil and Criminal Legal Assistance Training and Technical Assistance Program. Nonprofit organizations with or without 501(c)(3) status that provide legal services to tribal members and Indian tribes, other than institutions of higher education, are eligible to apply. Successful candidates receive funding to enhance the operations of tribal justice systems and improve access to those systems by tribal citizens and other eligible individuals. Training and technical assistance (TTA) funding will strengthen and improve the representation of indigent defendants in criminal cases and indigent respondents in civil cause of action under jurisdiction of Indian tribes. BJA encourages applications from agencies that have not received BJA funding before and convening or governing bodies that can apply on behalf of one or more entities. The publication includes tips for success as well as information about how to apply and when.
