This book presents information, previously confined to law enforcement circles, about the dominant types of gangs currently operating in the U.S.
Abstract
The book provides details about where the gangs came from, how they recruit and train new members, why adolescents are attracted to gang life, how gangs issue challenges and threats to their rivals, and how gang members capitalize on and risk their life for the drug trade in which they gangs are engaged. Photographs and illustrations provide examples of gang graffiti, symbols, tattoos, and hand signs. The gangs discussed here include Hispanic gangs, Crips and Bloods, People Nation and Folks Nation, Jamaican Posses, Asian and South Sea Islander gangs, Colombian gangs, the Cuban Marielito, Hell's Angels, White Supremacists and other white gangs, and prison gangs. 13 references
