Abstract
Additional papers consider the relationship between drug trafficking and the imperialistic spread of gangs, the relationship between cultural change and gang activities in Hispanic communities in Los Angeles, extortion among Chinese gangs, the activities of Vietnamese youth gangs in southern California, female participation in gangs, and the processes of delinquency and drug use in urban gangs. Further papers present historical perspectives on the characteristics and activities of gangs and critical analyses of public policies designed to address gangs. Tables, chapter notes, author index, subject index, and 316 references.
