Abstract
THE FUNDAMENTAL CONSTITUTIONAL SAFEGUARDS INCLUDE NOTICE OF CHARGES, RIGHT TO COUNSEL, RIGHT TO CONFRONTATION AND CROSS-EXAMINATION OF WITNESSES, AND PRIVILEGE AGAINST SELF INCRIMINATION. EACH OF THE SAFEGUARDS IS DISCUSSED IN TERMS OF THE HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF JUVENILE COURT. ATTENDEES WERE SOCIAL WORKERS, LAWYERS, AND JUVENILE COURT JUDGES. THIS IS A USEFUL REFERENCE WORK FOR THOSE CONCERNED WITH THE IMPLICATIONS OF THE GAULT DECISION FOR THE JUVENILE COURT PROCESS.
