Georgia has enacted legislation that covers the maintenance of information on arrested persons, the State Crime Information Center, the dissemination of criminal history records to public and private individuals and organizations, responsibilities of criminal justice agencies in collecting criminal investigation information, judicial decisions, Georgia's Crime Information Center Council, the completeness and accuracy of criminal history record information, and criminal justice information exchange and dissemination.
Abstract
Legislation specifies requirements for maintaining information about arrested persons by police officers, the establishment and operation of Georgia's Crime Information Center Council and Bureau of Investigation, public access to criminal history records, and the dissemination of criminal history records to both public and private individuals and organizations. Legislative provisions also pertain to responsibilities of State criminal justice agencies with regard to fingerprints and other identifying information and criminal record inspection. In addition, legislation deals with unauthorized requests for criminal history record information, judicial review of criminal records, Georgia's Public Records Act, criminal justice information security, the completeness and accuracy of criminal history record information, and criminal justice information exchange and dissemination.
