Abstract
THE REPORT OPENS WITH A NARRATIVE PROFILE OF CORRECTIONS IN GEORGIA, AN ORGANIZATIONAL CHART, AND DETAILS OF DATA SOURCES. PROJECTIONS OF BLACK AND NONBLACK INMATE POPULATIONS THROUGH THE YEAR 2000 ARE THEN PRESENTED. THE REMAINDER OF THE REPORT PROVIDES TABULAR DATA, GENERALLY FOR 1972-76, ON AVERAGE DAILY INMATE POPULATION, COMMITMENTS, RELEASES, AGE OF COMMITMENTS SEX OF AVERAGE DAILY POPULATION COUNTY OF COMMITMENT, COMMITTING OFFENSE, AVERAGE SENTENCE LENGTH, AND AVERAGE LENGTH OF STAY. OTHER PRISON DATA INCLUDE CAPACITY AND DESIGN FEATURES OF FACILITIES, OPERATING BUDGETS, EXPENDITURES AND REVENUES, STAFF SIZE, POSITIONS, AND SALARIES. STAFF DATA FOR COMMUNITY-BASED FACILITIES AND CENTRAL ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES ARE ALSO PROVIDED. PROBATION AND PAROLE DATA INCLUDE NUMBER OF PROBATIONERS AND PAROLEES UNDER SUPERVISION, NUMBER OF PAROLES GRANTED AND REVOKED, STAFF SIZE AND SALARIES, AND BUDGET APPROPRIATIONS.
