THIS SIX-YEAR CORRECTIONS PLAN IS ORGANIZED ACCORDING TO THE OFFENDER'S PROGRESS THROUGH THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM - EACH CHAPTER DESCRIBES THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AT THE VARIOUS STAGES.
Abstract
EACH CHAPTER CONTAINS AN INTRODUCTION IDENTIFYING WHERE IT INTERFACES WITH THE OFFENDER AS HE PROGRESSES THROUGH THE SYSTEM, AND A DISCUSSION OF THE PRESENT SITUATION WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS/OFFENDER REHABILITATION. EACH PLAN ABSTRACT REPRESENTS AN ISSUE RELATED TO THE STANDARDS CONTAINED IN THE CORRECTIONS VOLUME OF THE NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMISSION ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS. THE LIST OF STANDARDS WAS CONDENSED INTO 87 ISSUES OF IMMEDIATE CONCERN. THE ISSUES WERE INTEGRATED INTO OPERATIONAL CORRECTIONS PLANS. EACH CHAPTER OF THE MASTER PLAN CONTAINS ABSTRACTS OF THE PLANS THAT WERE DEVELOPED FROM THE ISSUES. THE ABSTRACTS CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: TITLE, PROBLEMS; OBJECTIVES; IMPLEMENTATION TASKS, SCHEDULES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES; AND RESOURCES REQUIRED (TOTAL ESTIMATED COSTS, FACILITIES, STAFF, EQUIPMENT, AND TRAINING). FLOW CHARTS SUMMARIZING THE IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS OF EACH PLAN ARE PROVIDED. AN OVERVIEW OF THE MASTER PLAN IS INCLUDED AS THE FINAL CHAPTER WHICH PROVIDES A SUMMARY FOR USE BY TOP ADMINISTRATORS WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT.
