AIMED AT ADOLESCENT GIRLS, THIS FILM TRIES TO DEMONSTRATE SOME OF THE MORE SUBTLE SITUATIONS OF POTENTIAL DANGER THAT YOUNG WOMEN MUST BEWARE OF AS THEY MAKE DECISIONS FOR THEMSELVES.
Abstract
THE FIRST DRAMATIZED INCIDENT ENDS IN DEATH BECAUSE THE GIRL WAS TOO TRUSTING OF A STRANGER'S LURE INTO HIS HOUSE ON THE PRETEXT OF A LUCRATIVE BABYSITTING JOB. SEXUAL MOLESTATION AND MURDER ARE IMPLIED. ANOTHER GIRL COMES TO THE BRINK OF EXPLOITATION BY A CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AGENT BECAUSE OF HER PERSONAL LONELINESS AND HEIGHTENED SELF-IMAGE AS A WOMAN. A THIRD SITUATION DRAMATIZES THE PLIGHT OF A YOUNG WOMAN WHOSE STEPFATHER MAKES SEXUAL ADVANCES TO HER IN THEIR HOME. THESE LESSONS EMPHASIZE AVOIDING CONTACT WITH DUBIOUS STRANGERS, EVEN UNDER SEEMINGLY JUSTIFIABLE CIRCUMSTANCES, AND SEEKING HELP FROM FAMILY MEMBERS OR PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE HOME, SUCH AS TEACHERS, ADVISORS, DOCTORS OR CLERGYMEN, WHEN THE SITUATION BECOMES TOO THREATENING FOR A YOUNG GIRL TO HANDLE ALONE.
