This bulletin describes the 18 programs designated 1992 Gould-Wysinger Award winners based on exceptional achievement in advancing the Nation's juvenile justice system.
Abstract
The 18 award winners were selected from 50 programs nominated by juvenile justice professionals across the Nation. The description of each program includes a profile of the targeted juvenile group and a summary of program activities. The programs include a day treatment program; a socialization program for Cambodian youth in the United States; a community intensive supervision program; intensive treatment for youth in the community; court-appointed special advocates for children suspected of being abused; crime prevention programs for high-risk youth; a program to strengthen the functioning of families of delinquents; and a program designed to prevent youth involvement in gangs, drugs, and dropping out. Also described are a family therapy unit, a holistic environmental life-skills project, a house arrest program, a juvenile diversion program, juvenile court services, specialized treatment services, and a juvenile court victim restitution program.
